A Woodbridge teacher has been awarded a $2,500 educational grant as part of the Farmers Insurance Thank America's Teachers program.

A Woodbridge teacher has been awarded a $2,500 educational grant as part of the Farmers Insurance Thank America’s Teachers program.
Thomas Parker, a local teacher and retired Army colonel has been awarded a $2,500 educational grant. He was one of 60 winners across the country.

His “proposal focused on the JROTC program’s mission to “Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens” by promoting the value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.”
Parker plans to use the grant to buy uniforms and other instructional materials for Woodbridge High School’s new JROTC program.

With the uniforms, the JROTC students will be able to attend the “Junior Cadet Leadership Challenge” event.
