WOODBRIDGE, NJ — It has now been revealed that a 50-year-old Iselin woman was killed in last week's flooding from tropical storm Ida, according to Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac.

This makes her the fourth person in Middlesex County who died in the floodwaters.

The woman has not been identified by name, but she lived on Gill Lane in Iselin, said the mayor. Someone dropped her off Wednesday evening and she was walking home during the storm. However, when she never arrived home that night, her worried husband called police.

The woman's body was found the next day. The mayor said he did not know for sure, but suspected that she was overcome and carried away by flood water.

The second death was a 31-year-old Edison man who died Wednesday after being swept into a 36-inch storm sewer pipe in South Plainfield, said South Plainfield Mayor Matt Anesh.

The man was identified as Dhanush Reddy from Edison. As the storm beat down that night, police were helping stranded drivers in the area of Hadley and Stelton Road when they heard cries for help nearby, Anesh said.

Authorities said two men were swept into the pipe, which travels from South Plainfield to Piscataway. Police were able to pull one of the men out, but they could not find Reddy.

On Thursday, authorities discovered the body of Reddy in a wooded area behind 1380 Centennial Avenue in Piscataway.

Details have not been made public about the other two storm-related deaths in Middlesex County.

Across New Jersey, a total of 27 people were killed by the floods. On Thursday, the bodies of a man and woman were found in the Passaic River this week, according to reports from NJ.com and NorthJersey.com. They may be missing Passaic college students who were swept away by the storm, but have not been identified yet.
