Woodbridge Woman Killed In Rahway Crash Tuesday

A 59-year-old Woodbridge Twp. woman, Rebecca O'Reilly, was killed in a head-on collision on St. George's Avenue in Rahway Tuesday afternoon.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A 59-year-old Woodbridge Twp. woman, Rebecca O'Reilly, was killed in a head-on collision on St. George's Avenue in Rahway Tuesday afternoon.

The fatal crash happened at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 on St. George's Avenue (Rt. 27) directly in front of the scenic Rahway River Park. Reilly is from the Avenel section of Woodbridge.

Police say that the two cars involved were both traveling in opposite directions, both in the left lanes, when they collided in the center lanes in a head-on collision. O'Reilly, the Woodbridge woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was driving a 1999 Plymouth Breeze.

The other driver, Ashokkuma Patel, was driving a 2004 Toyota Sienna. She was taken to University Hospital Newark as a precaution, but she did not have any serious injuries.

St. George's in that area was shut down for four hours Tuesday afternoon as Rahway police investigated. No charges have been filed. If anyone witnessed anything, they are asked to call Officer Edward O'Donnell of Rahway traffic police at 732-827-2073.
