Woodbridge Woman, Man Tried to Sell Fentanyl in Monmouth County, Prosecutors Say

At the time of their arrest, they had three children with them, a 6-year-old, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, police said.

Woodbridge, NJ - A Woodbridge woman and Carteret man were indicted last week by a Monmouth County grand jury for having fentanyl in Howell Township. Edward Burton, 27, of Pulaski Avenue in Carteret, and Angelica Negron, 29, of Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge, were arrested Feb. 5 in Howell, and charged with intending to distribute the fentanyl. At the time of their arrest, they had three children with them, a 6-year-old, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old. They were also charged with child endangerment.

Fentanyl, that drug that killed Prince, is an opiate that looks similar to heroin (a white powdery form), but can be 50 times more potent than heroin, and 100 times more potent than morphine. It was originally created in a lab to help cancer patients block out pain. While heroin deaths are high in the U.S., they have leveled off. Fentanyl deaths are skyrocketing. Heroin is often cut with fentanyl, and users are unaware, making the heroin even more dangerous.

Edward Burton was also found with a switchblade knife, police said at the time.
