Your Congressman Praises Trump's 'Dreamers' Immigration Reversal

'However, we know the President changes his mind frequently, from tweet to tweet, and we must remain vigilant,' said Rep. Frank Pallone, D.

Your local Congressman, Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ 6) praised President Donald Trump's reversal on not deporting "Dreamer" children, but also warned "we must remain vigilant, given his appalling record on immigration.”

On Friday, the Trump administration announced that Dreamer children would be able to stay in the U.S. These are undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as young children and who have been provided protections under President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). When he was running for office, Trump pledged to deport Dreamer individuals, many of whom have gone on to attend and graduate from American colleges and universities.

“Last month, I was inspired by the thousands of New Jerseryans who came out to support Carimer Andujar," said Rep. Pallone. "An outstanding Rutgers student and a Dreamer, Carimer faced possible deportation because of the dramatic and cruel shift in immigration policy by the Trump administration. I am proud that we can say once again that our voices have been heard, and I am relieved that Dreamers can continue to work and contribute to our society without the looming threat of deportation. This is a great victory for fairness, justice, and for immigrants who were brought here as children."
