11-Year-Old Finds Parents Dead In Bergen House: Police

Deaths are being investigated as a domestic-violence murder-suicide, Bergenfield Police Capt. Mustafa Rabboh said.

BERGENFIELD, N.J. - An 11-year-old child found his parents bodies late Saturday morning, said Bergenfield Police Capt. Mustafa Rabboh.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office posted on Twitter that it was "conducting a homicide investigation at 268 W. Clinton Ave." in Bergenfield.

The child told a neighbor that his parents were not breathing and the neighbor called 9-1-1 shortly after 10:20 a.m., Capt. Rabboh said.

Police found a 36-year-old Hispanic woman's body in the family's home and a 44-year-old black man was found in a basement utility room, the captain said. The man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities did not release a cause of death for the woman.

The family's identities were not released Saturday night because their next of kin had not yet been notified, police said.

A neighbor told NJ.com that the people living in the house were "so nice and quiet," the report said.

The prosecutor's office Major Crimes Unit, the Bergen County Sheriff's Office, and the Bergenfield Police are conducting an investigation. The prosecutor's office could not be reached for comment Saturday night.

Grewal said updates on the case would likely be released Monday, at the earliest, NJ.com reported.
