187 A And P Corporate Employees To Lose Jobs Dec. 18: Report
Layoffs are in addition to the 8,000 New Jersey store employees already slated to lose their jobs.

A&P has notified the the state Department of Labor and Workforce Management that 187 corporate employees will lose their jobs Dec. 18, The Record reported.
A&P has previously notified the state that 319 corporate employees would be laid off Nov. 23, the report states.
The notice Montvale-based A&P filed only identified the employees as ”corporate staff,” and no other titles, according to the report.

More than 8,000 store workers at New Jersey stores, and about another 10,000 store employees in five other states, will be laid off Nov. 23, the day before Thanksgiving.

A&P filed for bankruptcy July 19. Several A&P-owned stores have been bought out by other supermarket chains, including Acme and Stop & Shop, but a few others in North Jersey, including Wayne’s, have yet to be snatched up despite going through several rounds of bankruptcy bidding. Those stores are expected to close.
