5 Things To Know About Lt. Gov. Candidate Carlos Rendo
Rendo is the first Latino mayor in Woodcliff Lake history.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno has selected Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos Rendo as her running mate in her campaign for governor.

Here are five things you may not know about Rendo:

- He is originally from Cuba. Rendo came to the United States with his family in 1964 as a young boy. The family eventually settled in Union City.
- He is from a working-class family. His father was a janitor and his mother worked on a factory assembly line as a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
- He attended public school in Union City and worked summers loading trucks to make extra money to support his family.
- He was the first member of his family to attend college, graduating from Rutgers University in New Brunswick with a political science degree and then from Temple University Law School in Philadelphia.
- He married his wife Michelle in 1997 and moved to Woodcliff Lake in 2000 to raise a family.
- He is a partner at the law firm of Mulkay and Rendo, P.C. where he specializes in family and immigration law.
