Guadagno Selects Woodcliff Lake Mayor As Running Mate
Carlos Rendo was born in Cuba. He was elected Woodcliff Lake mayor in 2016.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Kim Guadagno has selected Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos Rendo as her running mate and choice to serve as lieutenant governor if elected.
At a press conference Thursday morning, Guadagno announced Rendo will lead an Audit Trenton Strike Force as the state's second-in-command. The strike force would conduct a performance audit of all aspects of government operations and find ways of reducing government costs for taxpayers.
Rendo immigrated from Cuba to the United States with his family. After arriving in Miami, the family eventually settled in Union City.

“I am thrilled to have Carlos on the team,” Guadagno said in a news release. “His story embodies the American Dream and is a testament to all that is possible in New Jersey."

Rendo became an American citizen in 1984 and was elected mayor of Woodcliff Lake in 2016. He and his wife Michelle live in Woodcliff Lake with their three children.
"I am so honored and humbled to stand with Kim Guadagno today as her running mate,” Rendo said in a statement. “Kim’s vision for New Jersey is my vision for New Jersey, and I know that together, we will work tirelessly to ensure our state is once again an affordable, prosperous place where families can thrive.”
