Christian Health Care Center Honors Employee

Hawthorne resident Sofia Magnifico, RN, BSN, Ramapo Ridge Psychiatric Hospital Geriatric Nurse Manager at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff, was recently honored as a Legend Quarterly All Star. Staff of CHCC is invited to nominate co-workers as Legends as part of the Center’s service-excellence initiative. A Legend is someone who exemplifies the mission and values of CHCC in an outstanding and easily recognizable manner, who contributes exemplary service for the benefit of those served at CHCC and beyond, or who demonstrates behavior above and beyond expectations. Ms. Magnifico was nominated by more than 100 employees of Ramapo Ridge.

Ms. Magnifico engages in compassionate, caring, and professional interactions with her patients, families, and co-workers. She leaves no stone unturned when identifying the needs of patients. She goes above and beyond to calm family members and friends who are having difficulty dealing with their love one’s illness. She addresses complaints in a professional manner and directs and encourages staff to perform their duties professionally, as well.

            Ms. Magnifico exhibits all of the traits that one would look for in a legend: kind, patient, compassionate, good sense of humor, dedicated to her job, and truly loves the patients at Ramapo Ridge.

            “Sofia is a young dynamic lady of inexplicable legendary character,” said one co-worker. “Her warm reception and approach to patients and staff exceeds the best of the best.”

The non-profit CHCC has been serving the community since 1911, providing a broad scope of mental-health and elder-care programs.
