Free Pair of NJ Devils Tickets: Volunteers Currently Being Recruited for GoNewark HoopFest, NCAA Tournament Newark Regional, 3/23-27

As New Jersey prepares for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament to roll into the Prudential Center in Newark, March 23-27, Mayor Cory Booker and Governor Chris Christie’s offices are seeking 1,000 volunteers to help out with GoNewark HoopFest, a celebration of Newark and New Jersey’s rich basketball history during the NCAA Tournament.  

Volunteers are needed to help make this event a world-class experience for the respective teams and visitors. 

Roles including greeters at the various transportation hubs; street teams to direct visitors and distribute maps and guides; concierge teams to staff information tables at area hotels; and FanFest volunteers to work the outdoor games, contests and entertainment events to be held at Championship Plaza.

ALL VOLUNTEERS WILL RECEIVE A PAIR OF FREE NEW JERSEY DEVILS TICKETS.

Newark Liberty Airport Welcome Team: The first point of contact for out-of-town visitors! Greet guests, work with airport “Red Coats,” staff information tables, and distribute key HoopFest literature.

Newark Penn Station Welcome Team: Thousands of fans will come directly through Newark Penn Station. Our volunteers will work with NJ Transit ambassadors, staff  HoopFest information desks and more!

Broad Street Station Welcome Team: Guests will also arrive into Broad Street Station from throughout New Jersey. We’ll need our volunteers greeting these fans with a smile and staffing information desks.

HoopFest Street Team: Volunteers will be stationed at dedicated points around the city directing fans to special bus and trolley routes, handing out HoopFest guides and ensuring that guests and Newark residents alike enjoy this fantastic weekend of events.  

Hotel Welcome Desks:  Volunteers will staff information tables at key hotels during the event, answering questions from guests and promoting all of the exciting events taking place throughout the city during the weekend.

FanFest Volunteers:  FanFest will be a FREE event at Championship Plaza adjacent to the Prudential Center with entertainment, games, contests, special appearances, food & drink and more. We’ll need a team of great volunteers to make it happen!As a thank you to the volunteers, the New Jersey Devils will host a special GoNewark HoopFest Volunteer Recognition Night where volunteers who meet the criteria will receive two free tickets to a New Jersey Devils game.
