Christian Health Care Center Offers Free CPR Course to the Community

Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff is offering a free American Heart Association CPR Anytime program from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the CHCC Auditorium (Use 700 Mountain Ave. entrance).

Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in Wyckoff is offering a free American Heart Association CPR Anytime program from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in the CHCC Auditorium (Use 700 Mountain Ave. entrance). Participants will learn the basics of CPR for adults, children, and infants and will take home a practice mannequin, DVD, and certificate of completion. Light refreshments will be served. Class size is limited to 35 participants and pre-registration is required. The deadline to register is Friday, June 1. To register, call (201) 848-5229 or e-mail epeneno@chccnj.org.  If registered participants need to cancel prior to the program, please call since there will be a waiting list.

CHCC is able to offer this program to the community at no charge thanks to a generous grant received by the CHCC Foundation from the George A. Ohl Jr. Foundation. This American Heart Association course, entitled “Family & Friends CPR Anytime,” teaches the core skills of CPR but it is not a certifying or credentialing course. It will help participants to feel confident in an emergency situation where CPR is needed, and as a collective community benefit, the training will increase awareness of life-saving techniques for adults, children, and infants.

The course will be run by Elaine Peneno, RN, MPH, CHCC’s Long-term Care Clinical Educator; Marita Drivanos, RN, BA; and Robert Ehlers, Washington Township Emergency Medical Technician, all of whom are certified CPR instructors.
