Macy's Employees Held Mother's Day Tea for Residents at Christian Health Care Center

Four employees from Macy’s at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus recently volunteered to hold a Mother’s Day tea social for residents of Evergreen Court
supportive-senior housing complex at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) in
Wyckoff. “Partners in Time” is Macy’s employee volunteer program that organizes
community group projects, based on specific needs and employees’ interests.
Partners in Time received the Points of Light Foundation Award for Excellence
in Workplace Volunteerism, and the sales associates partner to make the
community a better place to live and work.
The Mother’s Day tea social was organized by Alan Cardillo, Macy’s Young Men’s Sales Manager. He is familiar with CHCC because his brother and niece are employees, and his father is a retiree. He and three co-workers brought tea, fancy cupcakes, and flowers for approximately 20 residents of Evergreen Court. He plans to bring employees to CHCC once or twice a month on an on-going basis to participate in community-service projects.
“Everyone had a wonderful time at the event,” said Ethel De See, Evergreen
Court Director. “The Macy’s employees toured two of our apartments and our
penthouse and asked a lot of questions. The residents and the volunteers
enjoyed their time together. And the residents were so appreciative of
them wanting to do something special for Mother’s Day.”

“We were in awe of how well we were received and the residents were very
friendly,” said Mr. Cardillo. “We are looking forward to coming again and
establishing a relationship with Christian Health Care Center.”
Evergreen Court is a 40-unit supportive senior-house complex geared to foster
independence, privacy, and community connection. Each resident enjoys a cozy apartment with a living room, galley kitchen, bedroom, and a full bath.
