NEW JERSEY — So, you think you spotted a UFO? Well, if you were one of the drivers on a crowded New Jersey highway Monday evening, sorry for the bad news.

That's right, on Monday, tweets began piling in reporting a UFO hovering over the area of Rutherford, according to TMZ. However, it was eventually discovered that the UFO was actually a Goodyear blimp.

A video posted to YouTube by World eNews captures a collection of reactions from drivers in the area who couldn't quite believe what they were seeing, and the sightings caused some backed-up traffic in the process.

The New York Giants played the Pittsburgh Steelers at home Monday night, losing 26-16.

Goodyear on Tuesday confirmed the blimp's presence in the area, but some internet users jumped in on Monday to correct the discourse.

According to Republic World, a Reddit user discovered a flight tracker that placed the blimp near Teterboro on Monday night.

Others saw the blimp earlier in the day, posting images to Twitter of it flying over New Jersey.

Though some will be disappointed they were duped by their own beliefs, at least one Twitter user — @linobrescia — has a new claim to fame, thanks to this oddly typical internet moment.
