BERGEN YOUTH ORCHESTRAS PRESENTS ITS SEASON FINALE “CONCERT 128”
With Special Guest Frank Ortega

Englewood, NJ May 11, 2012 - Bergen Youth Orchestras (BYO), the oldest youth orchestra in northern New Jersey, will present its final concert of the 2012 season, “Concert 128.” The performance is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Bergen Academies.  BYO will be featuring works of Shostakovitch and Vaughan Williams. Bergen Academies is located at 200 Main Street in Hackensack and tickets are $10 per adult, $5 for students and seniors.
Conductor Eugene Minor will lead the BYO Philharmonia and Symphony, a full symphony orchestra for advanced young musicians exploring standard to unusual symphonic works.
Some of the highlights of this concert will include Vaughan Williams: Tuba Concerto performed by special guest, Frank Ortega.  The concert will also spotlight Shostakovitch: First Symphony.  
Frank Ortega has been a freelance tubist in the New York Metropolitan area for the last 23 years. He has also held full time positions teaching instrumental music in public schools for the past fifteen years. Mr. Ortega has been the Director of Instrumental Music at Saddle Brook Middle/High School for the past six years. His duties include teaching the Marching Band, two concert Bands, two Jazz Bands, Chamber Ensembles, 7th Grade General Music, Music Theory, and Directing the School Musical. Previously, he taught at the Potrero Hill Middle School of the Arts in San Francisco, spent eight years teaching elementary band in Fort Lee, NJ, and from the summer of 2006 - 2009, served as Tuba teacher and Brass Ensemble coach for the New York Summer Music Festival in Oneonta, NY.
