Lakeside Fitness Club Champions Second Annual 5K & Fun Run for IronMatt

Oakland, New Jersey (October 16th, 2011) – Lakeside Fitness Club is sponsoring the Second Annual 5K and Fun Run at Oakland-McBride Corporate Park, 100 Bauer Drive in Oakland, New Jersey on Sunday, October 16^th.  All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Matthew Larson Foundation for Pediatric Brain Tumors (IronMatt).  Registration will be held from 7:00 am – 8:10 am.  The 5K run will begin at 8:30 am with walkers to follow.  The 1-mile Fun Run for children and families will begin at 9:30 am.

The course is certified by the USA Track and Field Association and members can earn 500 Grand Prix points, as well as certified racing results.

“We are a family run business with a focus on health and wellness.  Last year we were able to raise over $7,000.00 at this event and we are delighted to bring the community together again for a fun, family day filled with fitness and entertainment.  We hope this event will attract serious runners, as well as, families from neighboring towns.  Once again proceeds from this benefit will help support the much needed research to find a cure, and find a way to lessen the damage toxic treatments inflict on a child’s developing brain,”  Co-owner of Lakeside Fitness Club and Race Coordinator, Julie Costello stated.

This will be a great event for the entire family with plenty of parking, restrooms with beautiful showers, drinks and snacks.  DJ George from Triple A DJ will be on hand once again to pump up the runners and get all the participants young and old into the groove.  Awards will be presented at 10:30 am to the top three overall male and female, along with age group awards in 10-year increments.  New This year, Athena and Clydesdale categories will also be awarded.  Kids will receive medals for participation in the Fun Run.  T-shirts will be given away to the first 250 runners.
