Family Member Breaks Into His Old Wyckoff, N.J. Residence, Found Asleep In Shed

A 23-year-old man allegedly broke into the home and was found asleep in a shed.

What a homecoming.

A 23-year-old man broke into his former Wyckoff home on Oct. 10, police said, and may have been looking for his old bed.

Instead, he fell asleep in his shed, police said.

Arthur J. Garlick Jr., 23, was arrested when Wyckoff police arrived at the Grandview Avenue home to investigate.

Sgt. Brian Zivkovich and Ptl. Terrance Murphy found the screen of a rear window had been removed and the window had been broken broken, along with a locked bedroom door inside the home that had been pried open.

The homeowner indicated that a family member who previously resided in the home may have been responsible.

While investigating the burglary, the officers discovered that a shed on the property had the lock pried off. When police entered, they found Garlick, who was asleep.

Garlick had previously resided at the home and currently has no known address.

He was charged with burglary, possession of heroin, possession of narcotics paraphernalia and possession of burglary tools.

Garlick was committed to the Bergen County Jail in default of $5,000 bail.
