Franklin Lakes Quarterback Reunited With Rex Ryan In Buffalo
Chris Simms claimed on waivers Friday. He played for the Jets in 2013 and 2014.

Matt Simms wasn’t unemployed for long.
The Buffalo Bills claimed the former New York Jets’ quarterback and Franklin Lakes native on waivers Friday.
Simms is the son of legendary New York Giants’ quarterback Phil Simms. He will be reunited with former Jets coach Rex Ryan and former Jets’ quarterback coach David Lee. Lee always liked Simms and praised his abilities.

Simms isn’t a lock to make the team. Three veteran quarterbacks are already on thet team: Matt Cassel, former No. 1 pick EJ Manuel, and Tyrod Taylor.
Simms requested his release from the Jets after they drafted Bryce Petty and signed undrafted free agent Jake Heaps. Some expected Simms to land with the Atlanta Falcons, but the team didn’t submit a claim.

Simms played in four games with the Jets, three in 2013 and one in 2014. He’s gone 19 for 39 for 195 yards and one touchdown in his NFL career.
