Franklin Lakes Gets $1.8M To Protect 12 Acres Of Land
The land was previously owned by Alice and Bud Schwartz. They wanted to protect the property from future development.

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — Local officials were presented with a ceremonial check for $1.8 million to purchase and protect 12 acres of land.
The land was previously owned by Alice and Bud Schwartz. They wanted to protect the property from future development and the $1.8 million Green Acres grant will help do that.
The property abuts the Old Mill Woodlands, which the borough previously acquired, and an extensive network of trails and nature paths.

The borough also received support from the Land Conservancy of New Jersey, an organization that helps protect the environment through conservation and land preservation.
Bergen County Executive James Tedesco III and Freeholder Tracy Zur presented a ceremonial check for the $1.8 million to Mayor Frank Bivona Tuesday.

The preservation of Alice & Bud’s Meadow enhances the ability for residents and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of Franklin Lakes, said Alicia D'Alessandro, Bergen County spokesperson.
