As with any routine you do in life you need to set some goals. For my purpose, the goals you set (or think about) should be health, fitness, or wellness related. If you do not have a goal, and a good one at that, you will likely not get too far.
The typical goals that I hear are;
-"I want to lose weight"
-"I want to tone up"
-"I want to look and/or feel better"
-"I want to do X"
While those are a great start to making goals they are only half of the battle. How much weight do you want to lose? When do you want to lose it by? Why do you want to lose the weight? Why did you get unhappy, or to this point? What impact will it have on your life once you reach this goal?
Ask yourself all of those questions. Your goals need to be specific, you need a way to measure your progress, you should have a time limit associated with it, and most of all, you should have a goal that is something meaningful and emotional to you.
Ultimately you need to find something that is personally compelling to you. If losing 10 lbs. before August 1st is your goal, go get it, but if making the ex jealous at the next family party is your goal, go make it happen!
Good luck, and continuing on at least a weekly basis I will be sharing stories, thoughts, and tips on how to start reaching for your goals!
