Heroin Addiction Topic Of Educational Forum In Wyckoff Monday
Bergen County Prosecutor's Office is sponsoring the forum.

The growing problem of heroin addiction in Bergen County will be discussed at a special educational forum Monday called A Path To Addiction.
Authorities will discuss how people become addicted to heroin. Often, authorities have previously said, it starts by people becoming addicted to painkillers or opiates like Oxycontin and Percocet following an injury or accident. Unable to secure those substances, which can be expensive, they turn to heroin, easy-to-get and inexpensive alternative. Prescription painkillers can cost $75 a pill. Heroin can cost a little as $5 a dose.
Officials from Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, and Oakland recently announced a joint effort to crack down on illegal drug use in their municipalities. The joint task force is a collaboration between municipal officials, school leaders, police departments, and drug abuse prevention alliances.
