The thieves allegedly took the man's SUV while he was sleeping, police said.

A man who opened his house to a homeless friend and his wife repaid his kindness by stealing his SUV, Wyckoff police said.

A 53-year-old Wyckoff Avenue resident allowed the couple to stay in his house temporarily, Chief Benjamin Fox said. They returned to the house to collect some belongings Nov. 12 and were waiting outside for a ride when the man went back to bed.

When the man woke up, his 2004 Ford Explorer was missing as were the keys to his home. He called his friend who hold him he had taken the Explorer, police said.
