Borough Library Hosting Local Doodler's Art
You can see John Rosica's art at the Franklin Lakes Public Library this month

John Rosica, a member of the Public Relations Hall of Fame and Franklin Lakes resident, has been doodling for more than four decades.
Unlike most people that doodle simply because they have a pen and paper available, Rosica says he always knew that his doodles were much more than just pen on paper. When a friend out of the blue noticed his work and told him to frame it, Rosica selected 24 pieces of his archived doodles and enlarged and framed.
“The Art of Doodles, I thought out loud, and why, not?” Rosica said. "After all, what is art if not the presentation of self?"

Since that realization, he has become a self-proclaimed advocate for doodling and now has a mission to bring the Art of Doodling and its benefits to the masses. His doodle art will be on display at the during the month of June.
Not a stranger to launching new brands, his firm Rosica PR is credited for making Famous Amos Cookies... famous.

Regardless, Rosica did his research which confirmed what he had already experienced: Doodling appears to allow a person’s subconscious to work and the brain to concentrate.
A 2009 study published in the journal Applied Cognitive Psychology found that doodlers retained more than non-doodlers when remembering information that had been presented in a boring context.
Rosica now runs a workshop to foster the art of doodling.
"People are always talking about thinking out of the box, yet what amazes me is that those are the same people that usually stunt the creative in people," Rosica said. "That’s why I say forget the box. Doodling doesn’t put any type of limitation or expectation on people. It’s more of a que sera sera art… whatever will be, will be."
