LISTEN: Husband's Sliced-Up Hands Led Authorities To Wife's Body, Report Says

Eric Pleger was charged with murder in the death of his wife, Luisa.

NORTH ARLINGTON, NJ - Eric Pleger’s cut-up hands clued someone in that something wasn’t right with the Riverview Gardens resident.

Pleger, 45, was charged with the murder of his wife, Luisa, 47, in their apartment last Friday. Authorities said he used a hammer to murder her.

A 911 call released Friday by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Pleger wanted someone to write his rent check for him because his hands were injured, NJ.com reported after filing an OPRA request for the recording.

“I just want to request a welfare check,” a woman named Kathy said during the call last Friday to North Arlington police.

“We had a tenant, Eric Pleger in 28K, come in at 9 o’clock and he asked one of the girls to write his check for him because his hands were all cut up,” the woman said.

“OK,” the dispatcher said.

“He did say, ’I did this at work,’” the manager said. “However, he was acting strange and he came back around 11:05 and said he doesn’t want anybody going into his apartment.”

Pleger continues to be held in the Bergen County Jail on $2 million bail on murder and weapons charges, according to the report.
