Local Faces: Vicky Li

Learn something new about your neighbors.

Vicky Li runs in Wyckoff with her husband Kenny. The mother of two juggles the responsibilities of raising sons with a warm smile, supporting local school groups and running a busy restaurant.

Food

I love salmon especially salmon sashimi, it's so healthy and delicious. It is hard to get away from the restaurant when you are open 7 days a week but when I get some time I head over to Chinatown in NYC. There are so many restaurants serving authentic cuisine. I also love the Mexican salad at .

Entertainment

I don’t have much free time but I do enjoy going to the movies with my sons or spending time with family. For “me time" I head to Parisi’s for a workout.

Travel

We travel to China every other year. Both my children are fluent and it gives them a chance to immerse themselves in the language and culture. My dream is to visit every city in China and explore my heritage.

Education

I attended primary school in China and graduated high school in the U.S. The schools are stricter in China; students are expected to be respectful. There's more homework, more tests and the math is harder. My children seem to have more fun in school than I did — all we did was study. Education is very important.

Wish

Like every parent I want my children to be happy and healthy. I hope they discover a career that they will enjoy and can be successful at.

Issues

I wish my children and their friends would spend less time on computer games and more time being active. Playing sports outdoors is the healthy choice our children should be making.

Wyckoff

It's really a nice town, it's a great place to raise children. I have met so many wonderful people who dine at Sakura.
