Local Jeweler to Support Animal Hospital
Founder of SKM Artwork, Susan Miller, to host a fundraiser event for the Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital in memory of Dr. Cheryl Welch.
Susan Miller, founder of SKM artworks, not only draws inspiration from Mother Nature for her au naturale line of jewelry, but she is also a big supporter of the animal kingdom. This local artist is to host a fundraiser event for the Franklin Lakes Animal Hospital in memory of Dr. Cheryl Welch. The even will also serve as a “Birthday Party” celebrating all the creativity and social consciousness SKM has brought to the local community over the past year.
In an effort to maximize the success of this fundraiser and adorn as many wrists, necks, and earlobes as possible, this fundraiser event will consist of both in person and online shopping opportunities. The first part, aka the “Birthday Party,” will be an intimate gathering of friends at Susan’s Franklin Lakes residence on June 3. This fete will be accompanied by a virtual fundraiser event from June 3-5, taking place on the SKM artworks website.
New pieces for spring and summer are to be debuted alongside her current collection-expect more precious stones (sapphires, rubies and emeralds) and an “Antiquity” line for men (think worn leather and vintage coins-how rustic!). Both events will donate 10-percent of all proceeds to FLAH’s Critter Fund, so start thinking about surprising the animal lovers in your life with some new jewels!

FLAH founder, mother, and animal lover, Dr. Cheryl Welch passed on Feb. 23 at age 45. She dedicated her life to contributing her medical expertise and compassion to helping families in the local community and established the Critter Fund to support FLAH’s in-house cat adoption program, spay and neuter clinics, natural disaster relief, and nursing sick and injured surprise guests back to health.
In addition to wanting to support a worthy cause, Susan was also personally affected by the loss of Dr. Cheryl Welch, who had performed surgery on one of her rescue dogs a few months back. Susan comments on the care her furry family members have received over the years, “I've always admired the practice Dr. Welch created. You can always tell the caliber of a person from the people they chose to work with and the culture they build. FLAH has such a wonderfully strong culture of deeply caring and doing whatever it takes to give animals the best possible care, and Dr. Welch built that.”

Susan continues, “After [Dr. Welch] passed, I really felt I wanted to do something in her honor and this fundraiser seemed to be a way I could use my talents to help those she left behind.” So, hop on your computer to support a local crafter, animal hospital, and woman that supported our community for so many years. Feel good about your purchases and "Do well while doing good,” as is the SKM mission.
