Mom In Hot Car Incident Charged With Endangering The Welfare Of A Minor

A sheriff's officer had to smash a window to get the child out of the 80-degree van.

The mother of a child who was left in an 80-degree van in a Costco parking lot in Hackensack has been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, authorities said.

Chaeyong Lim-Kim, 43, was charged by Bergen County Sheriff officers, sheriff’s spokesman Anthony Cuerton said.

Hackensack police could not be immediately reached for comment.

A store employee notified a sheriff’s officer Thursday that there was a child in a hot car in the Costco parking lot around 4 p.m.

One officer smashed a window to rescue the child, who, authorities said, was “soaking wet” with sweat and crying when she was pulled out of the vehicle.
