Musician Lisa Prokopowitz to Headline Potluck Dinner at Wyckoff Church

Singer Lisa Prokopowitz will perform at the Christian Singles of North Jersey Potluck Dinner on Oct. 1 at 6:30 p.m.

It will be a night of music and fun as fans of acoustic guitar and music can hear Lisa Prokopowitz perform at the Christian Singles of North Jersey Potluck Dinner at the on Sicomac Avenue on Oct. 1. The cost is $4 and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Prokopowitz, a wife and mother from northern New Jersey, has been playing music her entire life and uses it as a means to share her message of hope and her reflection that people are put on this earth with a purpose and created by something bigger that actually wants to see people succeed in life.

“I grew up in a home where music was a part of life,” said Prokopowitz. “Both my parents were singers and my grandmother played piano and sang.”

Prokopowitz picked up the guitar between the ages of 10 and 12.

“It was a gift from my mother when the family was going through a hard time and I learned to play,” she said, and now she uses music to help spread a message of hope.

As she grew into becoming a guitarist, Prokopowitz was influenced by the music of James Taylor, Eric Clapton and the late Eva Cassidy.

Prokopowitz uses her singing and guitar playing as part of being a board certified music therapist and works primarily with the elderly. She started Mending Music to “to use music (often with spiritual or growth oriented themes) to encourage and uplift those who find themselves in a variety of challenging situations. In every living arrangement, regardless of the type of home or facility, the potential exists for discouragement, loneliness and struggle.”

“I really get so much joy out of seeing senior citizens smile and sing along as I perform,” said Prokopowitz.

Prokopowitz said that much of her message of hope stems from the fact she is a born again Christian.

“With music I am to share with people what the Lord is doing in my heart,” she said.
