Plant Sales, Garden Clubs and More!

Area shopping for plants, plant sales and Garden Club Lectures

Welcome to a special Friday edition of The Garden Patch. If you are not out digging in the garden this weekend, then you should be out shopping. Here are some local nurseries:

  • Twinbrook Nurseries, 706 Franklin Ave, Franklin Lakes, a large field of shrubs and greenhouse full of annuals and gardening supplies
  • Abma’s Farm, 700 Lawlins Road, Wyckoff, home of a vast amount of colorful hanging baskets full of home-grown annuals.
  • Rohslers, 100 Franklin Tpke, Allendale, a massive amount of trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, ceramic pots, tools plus a florist , are now overflowing with plants.
  • Home Depot on Rt 21 South in Paterson (just over the Fair Lawn Avenue bridge) has good deals on compost and potting mixes as well as the basics in annuals, perennials and small shrubs.  (The great thing about that Home Depot is the 3.5-percent sales tax for being in an urban area.)
  • Rousseaus in Wyckoff has gone organic at the behest of its savvy customers—they now offer mostly organic plants, soils and fertilizer as well as some pretty terrific looking garden ornaments and mulches.

Plants Sales This Weekend

Another option for those who like to wander a bit is a plethora of plant sales.   Plant sales are fun because they are usually manned by some pretty knowledgeable gardeners.  You may even find that some of the plants come directly from local gardens—a real plus, as you can be sure they will grow in our own area.
