Police: Burglary Reported At Sunrise Bagels May 8
Cash was reportedly stolen from the business, but police did not say how much.

- On May 8, the owner of Sunrise Bagels, 581 Goffle Road; reported a burglary at the business. Entry into the building was believed to have been through a rear door, after which an interior office was entered. Cash was reported stolen. Sgt. Thomas Tully investigated.
- On May 9 at 2:15 a.m., Patrolman Robert Schlossberg stopped a vehicle on Route 208 for speeding. A computer check revealed that the vehicle, a 2004 BMW, had been stolen in Paterson. Raul E. Rosas-Julca, Paterson, age 37, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, driving while his license is suspended and speeding. He was released in his own recognizance and the complaint has been referred to Bergen County Superior Court.
- On May 10 at 1:10 a.m., a resident reported that a vehicle was observed driving into the parking lot of a church on Lafayette Avenue and the vehicle parked and turned off its lights. Sgt. Brian Zivkovich and Patrolman Ryan Tenney responded and the investigation determined that a Hawthorne man and two Hawthorne juveniles were preparing to smoke marijuana. George J. Innocenti, Hawthorne, age 18; was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. He was released in his own recognizance and will appear in municipal court. The juveniles were turned over to their parents.
- On May 16 at 12:54 a.m., Patrolman William Christopher was traveling on Route 208 in a marked police vehicle when another driver passed the police car at a high rate of speed and almost struck the side of the police car. Following a traffic stop, Robert J. Fortuna, New Milford, age 23; was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession weapons for having brass knuckles and a billy club, and careless driving. He was released in his own recognizance and will appear in municipal court.
- On May 18 and May 19, patrons of the Wyckoff YMCA reported the theft of property while they were at the facility. In the first incident, a man reported the theft of his wallet, which had been in his pants pocket that had been rolled up and placed in a plastic bag while he was at the pool. Cash, credit cards, and identification were reported stolen. The following day, an iPad was stolen from an unlocked locker. It was found damaged in another part of the building.
