Franklin Lakes Police Chief Catches Red Bull Shoplifter

Franklin Lakes Police Chief Carmine Pezzuti caught a man trying to steal a case of Red Bull at Stop & Shop on Franklin Avenue Sunday, police said.

Pezzuti was off duty when he saw Roy Schmitt shoplift a case of Red Bull at the store, police said.

Pezzuti pursued Schmitt into the parking lot and arrested him, police said.

Schmitt, 32, of North Haledon, was charged with shoplifting and resisting arrested. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, police said.
