The following info was submitted by Van Voorhees Association Trustee Jean Hildebrandt:
As part of Wyckoff’s early history, the Wyckoff library has received the 3 volume, “The Van Voorhees Family in America”, donated by The Van Voorhees Association.
In 1720 William and John Van Voor Haze bought 550 acres of land in what is now Wyckoff and ten years later William built his house, believed to be the oldest in Wyckoff. William’s house has undergone additions and changes over its 282 years.

The largest, and most beautiful, addition was done prior to 1824 by his son, Albert. The original house is now the dining room.
The house remained in the Van Voorhees family until the 1860s when it was sold to Uriah Quackenbush, who willed it to his granddaughter, Grace Quackenbush Zabriskie. Mrs. Zabriskie gifted her pond and surrounding acreage to the town in 1964 and willed her house and furnishings to Wyckoff in 1973.
