Residents at Christian Health Care Center Donate Soccer Balls to Orphanage

Residents of Hillcrest Residence at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) recently collaborated to donate soccer balls to an orphanage.

Residents of Hillcrest Residence at Christian Health Care Center (CHCC) recently collaborated to donate soccer balls to an orphanage in Bolivia. After a month-long campaign, they were able to purchase eight new balls.

Every year, local postal carrier Suzette Govin, who delivers mail to Hillcrest Residence, travels to Andrea’s Home of Hope and Joy in Bolivia with Grace Bible Church of North Haledon. This year, she brought the soccer balls to the 40 children living in the orphanage on behalf of the Hillcrest Residents.

“It gave me great joy to see the children’s faces light up when they got the soccer balls,” said Ms. Govin.

“The residents living here at Hillcrest are so inspired by Suzette’s mission trip every summer,” said Patricia Lombardi, Hillcrest Residence Activities Coordinator. “They were determined to find a way to help bring happiness to the children. After learning about the lack of soccer balls for all the children to play, they did what they could to purchase eight new balls for the orphanage.”

Hillcrest Residence is an independent living home for seniors who are in good health and want to maintain their independence, but also find comfort in knowing that assistance is close by if needed. Residents enjoy daily restaurant-style meals in the company of their friends also living at Hillcrest, and enjoy the spacious living room, library, piano, TV lounge, sun room, and much more.
