Senator Joseph Lieberman To Recognize 'Problem Solver' Josh Gottheimer Tuesday

Democrat Josh Gottheimer has promised to work across the political aisle with Republicans and Independents.

WYCKOFF, N.J. — Former senator and vice presidential nominee Joseph Lieberman will honor 5th District candidate Josh Gottheimer Wednesday for his pledge to cross the political aisle and get things done from the middle, if elected.

Lieberman, co-chair of No Labels, will bestow upon Gottheimer the Problem Solver Seal of Approval at the Teaneck Municipal Building at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

No Labels is a group of citizens and politicians from across the political and social spectrum who believe in working together to balance the federal budget by 2030, make Social Security and Medicare last for another 75 years, and help create 25 million jobs in the next 10 years, among other goals.

Lieberman, a former Independent from Connecticut, will talk about the importance of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents joining together to solve the "pressing issues of the day, from the economy to Israel." Teaneck Mayor Mohammed Hameeduddin will also attend.

Gottheimer, a fiscally-conservative Democrat from Wyckoff, is running against seven-time 5th District incumbent Scott Garrett. He has received endorsements from many local and statewide organizations and unions.

Gottheimer's campaign has blasted Garrett for what it claims are "extremist" views regarding his opinion regarding homosexuals.

Garrett has come under fire since Politico reported last year he refused to pay his dues to the National Republican Congressional Committee because it supports gay candidates.

The 5th District includes the following Bergen County municipalities: Fair Lawn, Franklin Lakes, Glen Rock, Hillsdale, Mahwah, New Milford, Oakland, Paramus, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Westwood, Wyckoff, and most of Teaneck.
