Temporary Restraining Order Against Rutgers Football Star Carroo Lifted, Report Says

Carroo is accused of slamming a woman to the ground outside the team's training center last month.

A temporary restraining order against a Rutgers wide receiver has been lifted and Leonte Carroo might return to the team by Saturday’s game against Michigan State.

Carroo and the alleged victim promising they will have no contact with each other, The Record reported.

Carroo, a former Don Bosco player, and the woman were slated to appear in Piscataway municipal court Tuesday afternoon in an effort to get the simple assault charges against Carroo dropped, the report states.

The alleged victim had been seeking a permanent restraining order, but told Judge John A. Jorgensen Tuesday that she felt that permanent restraining order against Carroo “wasn’t necessary,” the report states.

Carroo was charged with simple assault and the Bergen County woman was issued a temporary restraining order following the alleged domestic violence incident Sept. 12.

Carroo and the alleged victim were previously romantically involved. The woman injured her hip, elbow, palms and the side of her head in the incident when Carroo allegedly slammed her to the ground while trying to break up a fight between her and Carroo’s girlfriend.

Carroo was suspended from the team pending the outcome of the case, which likely won’t be tried in court until next month, according to the report.

Carroo’s attorney said he would ask Rutgers to consider reinstating him to the team, the report states.
