Woman Settles Lawsuit With Home Depot After Mouse Attacks Her

Annette Reaves, 58, said in her lawsuit that a mouse jumped on her while at the Hackensack store in 2016, hospitalizing her.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A woman has settled a lawsuit with a Bergen County Home Depot after a mouse allegedly attacked her last year.

Annette Reaves, 58, of Hackensack, said in the lawsuit that she was delivering plants to the Hackensack store Aug. 26, 2016, when the mouse jumped onto her.

The mouse jumped on her neck and body, biting and scratching her, according to the lawsuit, which was filed in Bergen County Superior Court Sept. 5.

Home Depot spokesperson Stephen Holmes said the company's claims department settled the lawsuit with Reaves, but did not disclose for how much.

According to Reaves' attorney Raymond P. Vivino his client "does always now grab her neck because she feels there is something there, and she suffers nightmares that a mouse might be endangering her life," a report by NJ.com on the lawsuit states.
