Wyckoff 4-Year-Old Died Holding Parents' Hands

Emma Louise Weidener died Sunday. The Bergen County girl was born with a rare metabolic disorder.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ A 4-year-old Wyckoff girl born with a rare disorder died Sunday holding her parents' hands, according to a touching obituary shared by her family.

Emma Louise Weidener was born with trifunctional protein deficiency, a metabolic disorder. She had a strong, positive attitude, her obituary stated.

"Emma always knew who needed a Hug and would run up to give it, even to someone she just met. Emma's Passion for life shined as she wanted to be part of every activity," the obituary stated. "Meeting Emma you would have no idea this happy, smiling and energetic girl was coping with a condition that affects your energy."

She is survived by her parents Robert and Noreen, siblings Marissa and Andrew, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

More than $22,000 in donations has been given online to support the Weidner family.

In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be sent to: The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation or the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh.
