Wyckoff Approves Pickup Of Vegetative Waste

Grass clippings will not be picked up, officials decide.

Vegetative waste will be picked up outside of Wyckoff residents’ homes in 2016.

Grass clippings, however, will not be picked up.

The Township Committee decided last month to implement the service following the results of an survey asking residents if they preferred vegetative waste, grass clippings, or both picked up.

Vegetative waste includes hedge clippings, yard waste, and branches less than three inches in diameter. Vegetative waste had been picked up, until this year, with the township’s regular garbage. A state law prohibiting inclusion of vegetative waste with garbage went into effect this year and the township began conducting separate pickups.

Less than 15 percent of residents were disposing of grass clippings using the pickup service, according to results of a survey, NorthJersey.com reported.
