Wyckoff Cracking Down On Trailers In Front Yards

Legislation would permit only one trailer in the back of a property.

Borough officials are cracking down on residents having multiple trailers and recreational vehicles on their properties.

The Township Committee introduction legislation Tuesday prohibiting residents from storing multiple recreational vehicles, trailers, or camp cars, including pop-up trailers, on their properties. One resident had three such vehicles on their property, including one with lights around it that was allegedly being slept in on a regular basis.

Mayor Kevin Rooney said that residents have complained that people are parking multiple such vehicles in their driveways and in front of their homes.

“Something like this, its just a good neighborhood policy,” Rooney said.

The legislation would allow for one recreational vehicle, trailer, or camp car to be stored behind the front line of a house, in a side or backyard.
