Wyckoff Family Donate Torah In Honor Of Son's Bar Mitzvah

The Sher family of Wyckoff has donated a Torah to the Chabad Jewish Center of Northwest Bergen County in Franklin Lakes in honor of their son Davin’s bar mitzvah.

“The Torah embodies the Godly Word,” Rabbi Chanock Kaplan told NorthJersey.com. “This comes at the perfect time - it’s on the bar mitzvah of the Shers’ son, Davin.”

Kaplan told the website that Torahs can cost between $28,000 and $60,000 because they are, traditionally, hand-written.

“There are so many other things a family can spend that amount of money on,” Kaplan said. “This family chose to further the word of God.”
