Wyckoff Officials Encourage Residents To Recycle

Sunday is America Recycles Day.

Sunday is America Recycles Day and town officials are encouraging residents to do all they can to decrease the amount of garbage put into landfills.

Officials are trying to avoid paying up to $100,000 in garbage disposal fees by getting residents to dispose of a variety of items properly. The township pays to dispose of garbage by weight.

Officials offered the following tips:

  • Place in one container all paper, plastic items, cans, glass bottles, jars, and wax-coated food and drink cartons.
  • Put household appliances and metal buik items on the curb for the Department of Public Works to pick up every Wednesday or call the DPW at 201-891-7000, ext. 101 to request a collection.
  • Bring electronics to the Recycling Conservation Center at 476 West Main St.
  • Get children involved.
  • Donate used appliances and furniture to charity.
