Wyckoff Police Arrest Three Adults After Finding Guns During Traffic Stop

A total of three guns were found in the vehicle, along with three adults and two children under the age of 5.

Wyckoff Police arrested three individuals after observing guns in a vehicle during a traffic stop.

Wyckoff Police stopped the vehicle on Route 208 Sunday afternoon ”for several motor vehicle violations” and arrested three adults after seeing a handgun partially covered by a jacket on the lap of the front seat passenger, Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin C. Fox said. Police also found two additional guns in a backpack after further investigation. 

The passenger, Walbertt Santiago, 50, of Paterson and the driver, Jeffrey Caez, 28, of Roseto, PA, were each charged with three counts of possession of loaded handguns (two 9MM and one 40 caliber), possession of hollow point bullets and possession of marijuana. Santiago was additionally charged with possession of a dagger push knife.

Caez’s wife, Jennifer Cruz, 27, of Roseto, PA, was in the back seat with two children ages 2 and 4. Cruz was charged with possession of a stun gun and possession of marijuana.

Both Santiago and Caez were each additionally charged with two counts of engaging in conduct that might endanger the welfare of a child.

Wyckoff Police were assisted by Franklin Lakes Police and Bergen County Police.

Santiago and Caez were committed to the Bergen County Jail in default of $100,000 bail each. Cruz was released in her own recognizance, Chief Fox said.
