Wyckoff Using $300,000 In Open Space To Improve Pullis Field Complex

County funds will be used to purchase lights, build a snack stand, and install a walking path.

Wyckoff officials will use $300,000 from the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund to make various improvements at the new Pulis Recreation Complex.

The Township Committee Monday unanimously approved using $300,000 from the fund to make several improvements at the facility. Voters approved using the funds via a referendum in 2011.

Field lights and safety lights in the parking lot will be installed, a snack stand and walking path will be constructed, and a grooming machine for the artificial turf fields will be purchased using the money.

“The realization of a completed ‘world class recreation complex’ will come to fruition sooner than expected,” said Mayor Kevin Rooney.

The complex opened in June. The project has been a true community-based project. In addition to the Wyckoff Family YMCA, who spearheaded the project, Larry Inserra, the Torpedo Soccer Club, and the Wyckoff Parks and Recreation Foundation donated $50,000 to purchase a playground and Bryan Hekemian donated $35,000 for a concession stand.

“Additional walking paths and exercise equipment will benefit all the residents of Wyckoff for years to come,” Rooney said.
