🌱 Serial Shoplifting Suspect Arrested + Man Found Dead In Jail

  1. A serial shoplifting suspect has been arrested by an Albuquerque police officer who happened to be at a store that the suspect was stealing from. The officer was at the Target on Lomas meeting with store managers and employees about a recent increase in shoplifting that has been affecting the area. Suspect Brian Singer attempted to steal $600 worth of store items while the officer was on site. (KOB)
  2. The Albuquerque Police Department reports that a man accused of shooting three officers on Aug. 19, 2021 has been found dead in jail. James Ramirez allegedly shot Officer Mario Verbeck, Officer James Eichel, and Officer Harry Gunderson in an ally behind the Juan Tabo Blvd. Dutch Bros. coffee shop. According to reports, Ramirez fired off roughly 70 rounds during the shootout. No additional information about Ramirez' death has been released. (KRQE News 13)
  3. The New Mexico Department of Transportation is seeking public input regarding the stretch of Highway 118 in McKinley County from Rehoboth Drive to Highway 566. Input will be used to determine how the department will update and repair the highway. Plans include adding turning lanes, lighting, and managing vegetation that is growing along the roadside but the department acknowledges that the public might have additional ideas. (KRQE News 13)
