Ruidoso, NM businesses plan life without horse racing (elpasotimes.com) — Ruidoso leaders and business owners are grappling with the likely loss of horse racing at Ruidoso Downs, a longtime economic engine and symbol for the village. As flooding, fires, and safety concerns sideline the track, the community is aggressively diversifying with new sports events, tourism draws, and even film projects to keep visitors and revenue flowing into town.
   

• Warrior football holds narrow lead at the half over Hatch (ruidosonews.com) — Ruidoso Warrior football is grinding out a lead over Hatch Valley in a wet, low-scoring battle at Horton Stadium, with defense and big runs defining the night.
