• N.Y. Assembly speaker on 1-year data center moratorium: 'We intend to pass it' (spectrumlocalnews.com) — Lawmakers in Albany are moving to pass a one-year statewide moratorium on new data centers, directly affecting the proposed $19.4 billion, 2.2‑million‑square‑foot facility in the town of Alabama. Supporters say the pause would let the state study environmental and energy impacts, while the project’s backers highlight its 125 promised jobs and worry New York may appear unfriendly to tech investment.

• Engineers highlight data centers STREAM Data Centers site plan conditions (thebatavian.com) — Alabama’s Planning Board is still reviewing the massive STREAM data centers proposal at STAMP, with engineers outlining draft conditions on noise, traffic, stormwater, safety, and lighting. Board members heard updates on sound studies, traffic projections along Route 77, and protections for nearby properties, while emphasizing they’ll take as long as needed before voting on the site plan.

• Fulton County looks to get ahead of data center spread (dailygazette.com) — A planned $11.2 billion Stream data center in the town of Alabama is one of several huge projects statewide prompting other counties to consider moratoriums and new rules. Officials elsewhere cite Alabama’s project, its big power and water needs, and limited jobs as they debate how to regulate future data centers and protect local resources and rates.
