McCoy’s budget was released on Tuesday, October 12, totaling approximately $753 million, which represents a 4.5 percent increase over 2021. For the fourth straight year, the budget remains under the tax cap and taxpayers will see a slight decrease in their taxes.
“An initial review of the 2022 budget shows that the County Executive and his team are ready to make investments in the health and well-being of our county workforce while streamlining county government, cutting taxes and still delivering essential services,” said Chairman Andrew Joyce. “We look forward to conducting further analysis and review that will help realize our collective vision for the county going forward.”

“As we continue to build a fully recovered Albany County, it is good to see the County Executive’s commitment to investing in our county employees with increased health and retention benefits. These individuals that have been so critical to our collective pandemic response are the backbone of a better and stronger Albany County,” said Wanda Willingham, Chairwoman of the Audit and Finance Committee. “As we start the legislative review process of the Executive’s proposed budget for 2022, we will work to find further opportunities to put the County on better financial ground, strengthen our communities’ programs and services, and promote further investment in health equity across Albany County.”
Majority Leader Dennis Feeney stated, “I congratulate the County Executive for delivering a fiscally sound budget proposal that incorporates the lessons learned over the past year from the Covid-19 pandemic. As we review the budget, we will all continue to work together to ensure we provide a strong, forward-thinking fiscal strategy for the people of Albany County.”
The Audit and Finance Committee will host a series of meetings as part of its annual review of the budget beginning on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. The Committee will first meet with the County’s elected officials, including County Executive, County Clerk, District Attorney, Sheriff, Coroners and Comptroller.
