“Saturday marks the 20th anniversary since terrorists senselessly and ruthlessly took the lives of nearly 3,000 of our people. The victims were mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, and they were children. And while it’s been two decades, so many of those wounds are still deep and can be felt every day,” said County Executive McCoy. “Whether they were flight crew or passengers, first responders or civilians, with these ceremonies and light displays we hope we can offer a time for the community to come together and say, ‘We will never forget, and we will persevere.’”

County Executive McCoy will first join Albany County Airport Authority CEO Philip Calderone, Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple, Sr., Father Kenneth Doyle and others for a memorial service and moment of silence on Saturday, September 11 at 8:30am at Albany International Airport in front of the main terminal on Albany Shaker Rd, Colonie.
