The annual chalk art drawing contest will be held Saturday, October 2 from 11am to 1pm on the Rail Trail behind Stewart’s Shops and the Veteran’s Memorial in Delmar. Funds raised from the event will support future murals and artwork on the Rail Trail. Additionally, there will be a public art discussion hosted by a local art historian that will begin at 12pm on the Rail Trail at the intersection of Adam St. and Hudson Ave. in Delmar.
Immediately following the art contest, County Executive McCoy will unveil the latest murals that are part of a public safety awareness campaign at 1:15pm at the Slingerlands trailhead of the Rail Trail, at 839 Kenwood Avenue.

“One of my signature achievements as County Executive has been finishing the Albany County Rail Trail and enhancing it every year to make it a place where the community can come together for exercise, art, entertainment and more. All the events this Saturday in Bethlehem are perfect examples of that, and I’m thrilled to partner with the Mohawk Land Conservancy and ART once again to provide an opportunity for families to get outside and have some fun,” said County Executive McCoy. “And these new murals are a way for us to beautify the Rail Trail, while highlighting the importance of making it a safer place for everyone – no matter their age or mode of transportation – to enjoy.”
