Unearthing a piece of Erie Canal history (spectrumlocalnews.com) — Archaeologists and Albany Waterway Inc. are uncovering a historic Erie Canal lock that once helped make Albany a major national city and Underground Railroad hub. The team hopes to turn the rediscovered site into a Canalside-style marina and attraction, potentially drawing visitors and economic activity back to Albany's waterfront.
